I do not know if anybody follows me anymore after such a long hiatus but here I am.
I had a good time up until now. Spring dragged it's feet and it was somewhat cooler than normal. Late May I went to visit my uncle and my cousin joined me later. Uncle got really sick like a bad flu or may be even COVID so, we could not enjoy things together this time. The weather was quite windy too. So, that beach trip was not ideal but OK.
June was awesome because, I went to the US with my SIS to visit my BFF and see Stray Kids on stage in NY at Citi Field. The show was AMAZING. I had so much fun. It was a memorable experience yet again. They never disappoint.
When I came back home, I decided to stay put in Istanbul till my trip to South Korea in September and I was generally OK, studying Korean, watching tons of videos and loosely making plans about things to do once in Korea.
Two weeks ago, I casually went to a doctor to see if my magnesium was low because, I had problems sleeping. Lo and behold, my magnesium is fine but my calcium was elevated which led the doctor to suspect Parathyroid Adenoma. I had a bunch of tests, an ultrasound and it is pretty much confirmed. Tomorrow, I am going to be given another test. This things need to be taken care of surgically. Bummer...
A born pessimist, I am afraid of all sorts of surgeries. The only one I had was an appendectomy when I was 16, last year of High School. I was so worried about the university entrance exams that, I was not even afraid. All I wanted was to get rid of the appendix so that, I would not have a problem during the two-step exams. Young and naive and feeling invincible I guess.
On top of the Parathyroid, it turned out that, I have some kidney issues as well. I know, this is part of getting old but, I would be content with just getting additional wrinkles rather than health issues. I do not like to be poked and prodded but, here we are.
I would like to go to Korea before I have the surgery because.... you know... a born pessimist.
Anyhow, I have my lovely Stray Kids to entertain me and keep my mind going on overdrive with what can go wrong.
I wanted to check out my favorite blogs yesterday and found out that One Family One Income is removed. I hope she just moved elsewhere or got tired of blogging and hope she is OK. If anyone knows and lets me know, I will appreciate it.
So, this is my update on life. I have a feeling I will go back to blogging because, this is my safe place to talk about my life.
I hope, everyone is having a good summer. Hope to be back in a few days to share what the surgery timing will be.
I’m so sorry to hear about your health issues and hope you will be able to make your trip. Best wishes for an easy recovery.
ReplyDeleteThank you Juhli.
DeleteOh I am sorry to hear you're having health issues but glad you have been keeping busy and did get to see Stray Kids in NYC! One Family decided to stop blogging last month :( She wants to focus on other things but she says she will read and comment from time to time. I loved your blogs so if you do come back I will be reading :)
ReplyDeleteThanks JJ for letting me know about One Family. Glad she and her family are doing well and healthy. Greetings!
DeleteNice to see you back, but had rather not found you are having some health issues. And yes I am still reading whenever you decide to post.
ReplyDeleteThank you Anne. I will talk to the doctor on Monday. By then the results will be all in her hands and I am a bit nervous. Will definitely write a post about this. Thanks again for reading.
DeleteOne removed her blog a month or two ago. She said she just wanted to spend more time on other things. She does visit blogs from to time.
ReplyDeleteI hope everything gets taken care of with your health issues.
Thank you Lori. I will miss One's blog. Will know better on Monday about my health. Will definitely share.
DeleteHi Tpol. I am so happy to hear from you and I am sorry to hear about your heath issues. I missed reading you. From May to June I was traveling to Europe and North Africa. Right now, my husband is in the hospital with some very serious heath issues. I wish you a speedy recovery. I am sending hugs your way. Farah
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry for your husband's health issues. Wishing him a speedy recovery.
DeleteHey TPol, good to see you posting. I have just starting blogging again. I was trying to remember your blog name as someone was wanting to connect with someone from Turkey. I now have to remember who; it was a fellow blogger, who went to school/uni in Turkey. I swear I have a memory like a sieve. Sorry you are having some health issues. Hope they get resolved soon.
ReplyDeleteHi Gill, good to hear from you. I haven'T caught up with my favorite blogs yet but I have noticed you came back. Hope, everything is fine with you an family. If you can remember who asked you, I would love to hear from them.
DeleteGood to see you back T'Pol and have all your updates (although some are not so great right). You've been busy so I hope to hear more from you soon and that your health picks up. Old age isn't for sissies is it!
ReplyDeleteYup! Not for sissies and I am afraid, I might be one. Lol!
DeleteYou’re back! I’ve only commented once or so, but enjoy reading you. Wishing you good results for the medical issues. Good for you for taking care of them! Um, I’d better go look after something myself….Olivia in the PNW
ReplyDeleteThank you Olivia!
DeleteI hope your procedure goes well. Maybe it will reassure you to know that I had a a tumor on my pituitary gland causing an excess production of cortisol (Cushings disease). It was removed with no problem and I was only in the hospital overnight. I don't know how this compares to your issue, I hope it goes as well as mine. I was very apprehensive as it is brain surgery! The surgeons accomplished the procedure through my nasal passages! Medical procedures now are amazing. Best wishes to you. I will be awaiting good news from you.

Thanks for sharing your experience. My sister knows a surgeon and she talked to him. He assured her this will be fairly easy, only one night at the hospital etc. Come October, I will deal with this.
DeleteHi, I mentioned on my blog I would like to meet bloggers who are in Turkey and Gill suggested you. I attended my junior year in college in Istanbul and have many fond memories. I hope you will follow my blog so we can stay in touch. Best wishes on your upcoming surgery, I find illness and surgery to be worrisome too. My blog is terragarden.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteMerhaba Terra, I will definitely follow your blog although these days I am not very active in the blogosphere.
DeletePlease visit parathyroid.com for information regarding parathyroid disease. It's super important to have a surgeon that does tons and tons of these types of surgeries. Best of luck! Oh, and I would bet your kidney issues are a symptom of that disease as well.

Thank you so much Melanie. I will definitely check out that web site. My sister knows a surgeon specialized in these surgeries so, I guess he will be the one. I truly hope, kidney issues will be gone with the surgery too. Getting old is not fun.
