Unfortunately, at 4:17 a.m. the Southeast part of Turkey has been hit by a huge earthquake which affected at least 10 cities in Turkey and some parts of the neighboring nations. Two more earthquakes followed in a neighboring city. Thousands of small earthquakes keep happening in the region.
A cousin of my father and his family are under rubble as I type this. I don't know if they will survive. I am just hoping.
The rest of my family is safe but, many people have lost their lives and loved ones.
I am so sorry to hear this. Prayers for you and everyone affected by this.
ReplyDeleteSending you love. I do hope your relatives are ok.
ReplyDeleteI am sure I speak for many - our hearts are with all affected - what affects one affects us all.
ReplyDeleteI just read about it in NYT. I hope your cousins are going to be safe. What organization is best to donate? 💗
ReplyDeleteI woke up to that terrible news and am afraid the death toll is going to be so much higher than they are initially announcing. Praying for your family!
ReplyDeleteOh, my gosh! T'Pol, I've just been listening to this and came on to see how you were. I'm very glad you and yours are safe, and will keep my fingers crossed for your dad's cousin and his family. I had no idea it had affected such a huge area. How awful! Please stay safe xxx
ReplyDeleteOh, my goodness, T'Pol! I'm just listening to this now and came on to see how you were. I didn't realise it had affected such a huge area. I'm very glad to hear that you and your family are safe, however, but will keep thoughts with your dad's cousin and his family. I hope they are found and will recover. Stay well and let me know if I can send you anything. NLA xx
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh - you & your family were the first people I thought of. Praying your extended family are found safe. Thank you for letting us know you are OK. Peace.
ReplyDeletePraying for you and your family.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts and prayers are with you and your family and country.
ReplyDeleteMy heart absolutely breaks for the magnificent people of Turkiye. You are all so strong and industrious and lovely and you keep getting these horrible knocks. As you know, I love Turkiye and want to contribute to the relief efforts but I know you understand which are the best destinations for any financial help we can offer.
ReplyDeleteI am a huge football fan and we are praying hard for a former Newcastle United - Christian Atsu -player who now plays in Turkiye and is apparently missing.
So sad. If there is anything we Turkiyephiles can do, please let me know.
Sending all my love to you.
Heloise
PS. T'pol, I really wish I could just give you a hug. This is more than a person should ever have to bear. Xxx

ReplyDeleteI read your blog but have only commented once a couple of years ago. You and your family are in my thoughts and I hope your relatives are found safe. These were terrible earthquakes. Everyone there has my sympathy.
ReplyDeleteHi again. I know you have more on your mind just now but, when you get a chance, is this something you would be happy for me to raise funds for?
