I have heard of him. I didn't realise he founded Turkey (I didn't know it was 'only' 79 years old!). My history is muddy - was 'old' Turkey the Ottoman Empire then? x
Turkey is actually 97 year old and has been a Republic for the last 94 years. Ataturk was the revolutionary who abolished the Ottoman empire with the Sultan. He fought the War of Independence and decided to make the new country a Secular Republic. He ditched the Arabic Alphabet and adapted the Latin Alphabet, gave the women voting and representation rights.
I have heard of Ataturk. Same one?
ReplyDeleteOne and only. Nobody else has the same last name. His last name is a gift from his people to him and means "Father/Ancestor of the Turks".
