Thank You

A big THANK YOU! to EAS, One Family, Lori, JJ, Gill, Farah, Treaders, NLA, Bobbie, Linda from Alabama, Heloise, Sluggy, Anne, Celie and Anons,

Thank you so much for your kind thoughts and prayers. They are much needed at this time of the disaster.

Unfortunately we lost dad's cousin and his wife. Honestly, I thought I knew they wouldn't make it but, when I heard the news, it hit me like a rock. They were a lovely couple, kindest of people. Hope, they rest in Peace.

Heloise, thank you for the hug. I would love to meet with you in person one of these days when you come to visit. I truly appreciate your love for my country. I understand you want to contribute and I can recommend you two organizations I trust "Ahbap" and "AKUT" Unfortunately, I do not trust even the Red Crescent in my country anymore.

I think the cheapest way to contribute is by Credit Card. It needs to be authorized for International Transactions. They also have International Fund Transfer Information on their sites. Either way, please do check with your bank or credit card company so, you don't get hit by huge transaction costs.

Here are the links:

Your prayers and good thoughts are so much appreciated.

"Peace at Home, Peace in the World"

  11. So sorry about your cousins. I wrote a comment yesterday but was lost. In 2003 an earthquake devasted a region where I used to live before moving to the states. A former colleague lost all his family, wife and 3 children. My best friend lost a 6 year son. Sending you big hugs.

  12. Dear T'Pol,

I am sending all my love. I have contributed through your trusted service and I am doing a sponsored event the weekend after next to try to raise a little more. I'll keep you posted on my efforts.

I would love to meet you too. I struggle to exp,ain this properly but the first time I stepped foot on Turkish soil I felt I had arrived at my heart's rest. From the energy of Istanbul to the quiet of the villages, and from the warmth and occasional gaudiness of those South Western tourist resorts to the absolutely incredible ancient sites like Ephesus, Turkiye has everything I need to feed my soul. I live very close to Hadrian's Wall in NE England. This was the most northerly extent of the Roman Empire. I love to see it because it makes me feel closer to Ephesus (if that makes any sense).

Turkish food is, to my mind, the most delicious food on the planet. You might have heard of Ozlem's Turkish Table. She is a wonderful Turkish lady who is married to a British man but is teaching us all how to cook Turkish food properly. I try to cook at least one of her recipes every week.

We don't have a big Turkish community in this part of England but this is my favourite local restaurant by a distance:

To my joy, a new Turkish restaurant is opening on our local high street soon too!

I love Turkiye and Turkish people with all my heart. I love your reference to Kemal Ataturk. One of my happiest memories is being in Turkiye on Repulic Day and standing under one of the huge flags showing his face.

Anyway, all my love to you, your family and beloved Turkiye.
